As "2006" opened, the Cornwall Lions Club
numbered 68 members. These men and
women reside predominately in Cornwall,
Cornwall on Hudson, and Mountainville, NY.
The primary mission of the Lions Club is
to benefit community residents in need of
assistance in the health related areas of
'sight', 'hearing', and diabetes.
Membership is by invitation. The Lions
organization includes a cross-section of
people of varied employment and
educational backgrounds. In addition,
there is a Leos Club, that
encourages teenagers to participate, to
offer community service, and to become the
Lions leaders of tomorrow.
The Lions Club in Cornwall, NY meets twice
per month on the first and third Tuesday
evenings. The Board of Directors meets at
6:00 p.m.; followed by the general
membership gathering at 6:45 p.m. Meetings
are conducted around dinner and encourage
good fellowship. After dinner guest speakers
are welcome, and topics usually include
community needs and areas for volunteerism.
Volunteer spirit is essential. In addition
to the health related areas named above, the
Cornwall Lions donate their time throughout
the year towards community enhancement, and
fund raising projects.
Requests for 'sight', 'hearing', and
'diabetes' assistance, as well as offers to
